…and raises £700 for charity
Team Gladiator aft pedestal grinder, Geoff Povey, recently completed a solo cycle challenge.
Geoff, who couldn’t remember the last time he got on a bike, was challenged by his team-mates to cycle 26km in aid of the Andrew Simpson Foundation.
With team-mates sponsoring him £1 per kilometre, the pot quickly got to £350 and there was no going back. It was “ on yer bike Geoff!”
On completing the challenge Geoff and the lads were pleased to learn that his effort had qualified for Team Gladiator sponsor Langley Holdings’ match funding scheme and the £350 raised was duly doubled to £700.
The Andrew Simpson Foundation is close to the hearts of the Gladiator team, particularly so tactician Iain Percy, who sailed alongside Andrew “Bart” Simpson to bring home gold for Team GB in the 2008 Olympics.
Geoff: “It was good to get back in the saddle to help raise funds for such a worthy cause and I can’t wait to find out what the team have in mind for my next challenge!”
Geoff Povey: ‚back in the saddle‘ raised £700 for the Andrew Simpson Foundation.
