Convincing win in practice race
The second round of the 2024 TP52 Super Series 2024 season got underway today with official practice race day in the XS 52 SUPER SERIES Newport RI Trophy.
10 teams from 7 different nations lined up on the hallowed waters off Newport RI and right on cue Newport turned on both sun and wind, a cool sea breeze building to 20 knots making for ideal conditions for this, the final tune up before points racing starts on Tuesday.
Takashi Okura’s Sled from the historic host New York Yacht Club won the first practice race and Tony Langley’s Gladiator took the second race win convincingly with the British owner calling tactics and veteran Argentinian helm Guille Parada driving.
And the good news is the breeze looks set to be in for the next few days. It promises to be an exciting week.
